WESTSIDE AREA SERVICE COMMITTEE
WHAT IS THE WESTSIDE AREA SERVICE COMMITTEE?
The WASC is an assembly of elected, “Group Service Representatives” (GSRs). These GSRs represent each group that hosts a Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meeting (or meetings) that are part of the WASC. The WASC also consists of WASC subcommittee representatives and elected administrative officers.
The WASC meets once a month and uses a business meeting format to discuss NA Area, Region, and World-related issues and asks that GSRs participate in Area Service. The meeting is approx. 1 hour and is held on the FIRST SUNDAY of the month. If the first Sunday is a holiday weekend, then the WASC meeting moves to the second Sunday of the month.
WHO MAY ATTEND THE WASC?
Area Service is open to all our members and consists of Area Activities, Phone Lines, Public Information (PI), Hospital and Institution (H&I), local Literature distribution (books, pamphlets, key tags, etc), and more.
Any NA member may attend the WASC as a guest, however, any area issues or concerns should be addressed to your groups GSR as they carry the group conscious, can raise issues, make motions, and vote.
